This ring is a powerful example of Charles Loloma’s visionary work. A true icon of Hopi contemporary jewelry, Loloma redefined Native art in the 20th century by blending traditional materials into modern style. The ring is made of 18k  gold and features inlaid stones consisting of pink coral, mediteranian coral, sugilite, fossilized ivory, and fine-line gold accent spacers wrapping around the entire gold frame. His bold color contrasts (like the orange and purple here) showed how Native jewelry was brought to a modern level of artistry. The elevated, tiered design is classic Charles Loloma—rising like a landscape of the Hopi Mesa.
