Kaye, Wilmer
Wilmer Kaye is a Hopi carver known for his finely detailed and spiritually significant Katsina (Kachina) dolls, particularly those that preserve traditional Hopi carving techniques and ceremonial accuracy. Wilmer shows an excellent example of his work—a Hopi Eagle Dancer Katsina, which carries deep cultural and spiritual meaning in Hopi tradition. He hand-carved this Kachina out of the cottonwood root, achieving great detail through carving and painting perfectly balancing his sculpture. He signed the bottom “Wilmer Kaye.”
