This dynamic carving by Hopi artist David Jensen captures the Parrot spirit in motion, caught mid-dance like most Kachina with arms raised and a brilliantly painted parrot perched atop his head. From the Reed (Paaqapwungwa) Clan and a U.S. Navy veteran, Jensen began carving in the 1990s under the mentorship of his uncle, famed carver Cecil Calnimptewa.
